Buttery Garlic Bread

The smell of garlic bread in the oven is one of the most amazing aromas that your house can have. The best part is, you can make it in 10 minutes time and it goes with just about any meal you can cook up. I served this alongside my maple roasted Brussels sprouts with a rotisserie chicken that I picked up at the store and to my great surprise, we ate more bread and sprouts than chicken! The side dishes definitely stole the show on this meal which just goes to show that a little love and a lot of garlic go a long way in the kitchen.

Buttery Garlic Bread

  • 1 loaf Italian bread, cut into quarters
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp dried basil

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a small saucepan, heat the oil and melt the butter into it over very low heat. Add the garlic and basil and stir over the heat for 1 to 2 minutes until the garlic is very fragrant so that the oil takes on some of its flavor.

Brush the garlic and oil mixture over the top halves of the bread. Place the top halves of the bread onto the bottom halves and wrap tightly in foil. Bake the bread for 5 minutes, then loosen up the foil and continue to bake for another 5 minutes. Slice the bread and serve warm.
